Solution

The correct option is D 1.62
Given,

MHe=4, mhe=16g

Mox=32, mox=16g

Specific heat of mixture at constant volume is given by,

CV=n1CV1+n2CV2n1+n2. . . . .(1)

For Helium gas,

No. of moles, n1=mheMhe

n1=164=4

γ1=53

Foe Oxygen Gas,

no. of moles, n2=moxMox

n2=1632=12

γ2=75

And specific heat constant volume of helium gas,

CV1=Rγ11=R531=32R

The specific heat of oxygen at constant volume,

CV1=Rγ21=R751=52R

From equation (1),

CV=4×32R+12×52R41+12

CV=2918R=Rγ1

γ=1829+1

CPCV=γ=1.62

The correct option is D.
