Working principle of generator or dynamo
The working principle of a generator or dynamo is electromagnetic induction, in which when the magnetic flux through the conductor changes it leads to the generation of electromotive force or voltage.
The spinning coil spins between the two strong electromagnets generating a stable magnetic field.
When the conductor coil spins in the stable magnetic field due to a change in magnetic flux an EMF is generated due to electromagnetic induction.
This EMF generates an electric current that flows in the circuit through a carbon brush and provides electricity.
The commutator is used in the DC generator to periodically reverse the direction of the current and it is used in DC generators only.
Hence, the generator or the dynamo works on the principle of electromagnetic induction.
