Solution

Step 1: Find the volume of the conical heap

Diameter of the conical heap=10.5m

The radius of the conical heap=10.52=5.25m (Radius is half of the diameter)

Height of the conical heap=3m

The volume of the conical heap =Volume of cone=13πr2h

13πr2h=13×227×5.25×5.25×3=86.625m3

Thus, the volume of the conical wheat heap=86.625m3

Step 2: Find the area of the canvas

Area of the canvas required =Curved surface area of the cone=πrl(where l is the slant height)

l=r2+h2l=5.252+32l=27.625+9l=36.5625l=6.05m

πrl=227×5.25×6.05=99.82m2

Thus, the area of the canvas required is 99.82m2.

Hence, the volume of the conical wheat heap =86.625m3 and the area of the canvas required is 99.82m2.
