Let x be the length of the chain hanging, L be the total length of the chain and mass of total chain be m
mass of x length of the chain will be xm and the mass of (Lx) length of the chain will be (Lx)m
So, FBD can be considered as

From the FBD we get

and, N=(Lx)mg
Also, T=f=μ N
T=0.25(Lx)mg
xmg=0.25(Lx)mg
Lx=4x
x=L5
Thus, fraction of chain that can hung is xL=L/5L=0.2
