Solution

Dear student,
Following are the reasons for the reduction in the species of lichen due to tourist spot in hill station:-
1) The lichens are loosely attached to the substratum due to which the vehicular movement, off road driving and landing helicopter must be the reason for reduction in the species.
2) Due to slow recovery of the lichens, throwing of rubbish and accumulation of dust on the species due to tourist rush in the area.
Measures which should be taken to conserve lichen species:-
1) Vulnerable species of lichens should be fenced with poles and steel wire.
2) Role plays and activities to create awareness among visitors about the importance of lichens species and damage caused by vehicles.
