Solution

The correct option is C 562.5 N

Using Newton's second law, force exerted on the ball in the x-direction,
Fx=dPxdt=ΔPΔt
Initial and final momentum direction of the ball can be show as

Initial momentum in x-direction,
Pix=Pisin30=Pi2
Change in momentum in x-direction,
ΔPx=PfPix=PfPi/2
Since P=mv
ΔPx=mvfmvi/2(1)
vf=30 m/s and vi=15 m/s
Therefore,
ΔPx=mvfmvi/2=5.625 kg m/s
Hence
Fx=5.6250.01=562.5 N
thus the magnitude of force in x-direction is 562.5 N.
