Solution: 1 Mark each

(a) Sum of the angles should be equal to $360^{\circ}$

$110^{\circ} + 60^{\circ} + 40^{\circ} + x^{\circ} = 360^{\circ}$

$210^{\circ} + x^{\circ} = 360^{\circ}$

$\Rightarrow x^{\circ} = 360^{\circ} - 210^{\circ} = 150^{\circ}$

(b) Let A and B be two complementary angles and let A > $45^{\circ}$ .

A + B = $90^{\circ}$

B = $90^{\circ}$ − A

Therefore, B will be less than $45^{\circ}$ .
