A lens made with $R_{2} = 2 R_{1}$ . Find its refractive index of lens.

By applying the lens maker formula

$\frac{1}{f} = (n - 1) (\frac{1}{R_{1}} + \frac{1}{R_{2}})$

The focal length of the lens will be

$(n - 1) = (\frac{2}{3} \frac{R_{1}}{f})$

Hence the refractive index will be $n = 1 + \frac{2}{3} \frac{R_{1}}{f}$
