Solution

Dear student,

Ether is not soluble in water. When we mix both ether and water then a layer of ether and water separates out and ether will present at top because of less density so water cannot be removed by shaking with ether. If any solute is present in water which is soluble in ether that can be separated. Ether is not able to form hydrogen bond with water, this is the reason that both the solvents are not soluble.
