A low pass filter
A low pass filter passes lower frequency signals and reduces higher frequency signals.
Any high frequency signals applied to the low pass filter circuit above this cut-off frequency point will become greatly attenuated, that is they rapidly decrease. When this occurs the output signal is attenuated to 70.7% of the input signal value or -3dB of the input.
A frequency filter is an electrical circuit that alters the amplitude and sometimes phase of an electrical signal with respect to frequency. Filters are used in several electronic and telecommunications applications to emphasize signals in a particular frequency range while rejecting or suppressing those in the undesired frequency range. The frequency separating the attenuation band and the pass is called the cut-off frequency.
A Low Pass Filter is a circuit that can be designed to modify, reshape or reject all unwanted high frequencies of an electrical signal and accept or pass only those signals wanted by the circuits designer.
