A man buys two cycles for a total cost of Rs. 900. By selling one cycle at a loss of 20% and the other at a profit of 25%, he makes a profit of Rs. 90 on the whole transaction. Find the cost price of a cycle which is costlier than the other.

Let the cost of one cycle is x The cost of another cycle=(900-x) Then according to the question ⇒(900−x)×25100−x×20100=90 ⇒900−x4−x5=90 ⇒4500−5x−4x20=90 ⇒4500−9x=1800 ⇒−9x=−2700⇒x=300 Hence CP of one cycle =300Rs. And cost of another cycle =900−300=600Rs.
