Solution

The correct option is B Rs.20,000
Let x be the money he originally had.

The money he gave to his children = x×40100=0.4 x

The money he gave to trust = (x0.4 x)×20100=0.12 x

The money he left with = x0.4 x0.12 x=0.48 x

0.48x=9600

x=96000.48=Rs. 20,000

He is left with Rs. 20,000. [C]
