A metal article is to be electroplated with silver. The electrolyte selected is sodium argentocyanide. Why is it preferred to silver nitrate as an electrolyte?

Electroplating is a process in which coating of a metal is done with a thin layer of another metal.

Sodium argentocyanide Na[Ag(CN)2] is preferred to silver nitrate AgNO3 as an electrolyte because if we use sodium argentocyanide, the deposition of silver on the metal article is slow and there is a smooth and uniform plating on the metal surface.
