Solution

The correct option is A Q1=2e, Q2=3e
Given that,
Q1=1e
Q2=4e
Considering (disc + sphere) as a system, total initial charge on the system is:
qi=Q1+Q2=1e4e
qi=5e
When the disc and sphere touches each other, redistribution of charges will take place.
However, as per conservation of charge, final charge on the system will remain same.
qi=qf=5e
Thus, qf=Q1+Q2=5e is feasible only in option (a)

Why this question ?Tip: By considering (disc + sphere) as a system,we can apply charge conservation on it.Concept: The system is isolated, because it is notconnected to external source of charge.
