A metallic sheet is of the rectangular shape with dimensions 48 cm* 36 cm from each one of its corners a square of 8 cm is cut off. An open box is made of the remaining sheet. find the volume of each box.

Length of the metallic sheet = 48 cm

Breadth of the metallic sheet = 36 cm.

When a square of 8 cm is out off from each corner to form an open box, then

Length of the open box, l = 48 cm – 8 cm – 8 cm = 32 cm

Breadth of the open box, b = 36 cm – 8 cm – 8 cm = 20 cm

Height of the open box, h = side of the out off square = 8 cm

Volume of the open box = l × b × h = 32 cm × 20 cm × 8 cm = 5120 cm^3

Thus, the volume of the open box is 5120 cm^3
