We know that Litres of milk(x)∝Litres of water(y) ∴x1y1=x2y2
Given, x1=4 litres y1=2 litres x2=20 litres and y2= Number of litres of water needed y2=x2×y1x1 ⇒y2=20×24 ⇒y2=10 litres Alternate: 4 litres of milk is mixed with 2 litres of water. 1 litres of milk is mixed with 24 litres of water. 20 liters of milk is mixed with 24×20 liters of water. ∴ Amount of water that can be mixed with 20 liters of milk is 10 liters.
