Question

A milkman sold two of his buffaloes for Rs 20,000 each. On one he made gain of 5% and on the other a loss of 10%. Find his overall gain or loss.

Given S.P of buffalo =Rs.20,000
Gain percentage=5%
i.e., Gain=5% of S.P
=5100×20,000
=5×200
=1000
Therefore, gain amount=1000

Similar way, loss amount=10100×20000=2000
Since, loss>gain, so the milk man got loss.
Therefore, amount of overall loss=20001000=1000
Hence, overall loss=1000
