Since X is a solid component that does not dissolve in liquid component Y, we can use filtration to separate them. In filtration, we use a filter medium such as filter paper, that allows the liquid component to pass through it while the undissolved solid gets collected on the filter medium. Therefore both X and Y components can be separated easily.
