Question

A motor bike, initially moving at 18 km/h, accelerates at a rate of 5 m/s2 and the distance covered by it from start is 87.5 m. Calculate the final velocity?

Open in App
Solution

Step-1:Given data:

Acceleration(a)=5 ms2

Distance(s)=87.5 m

Initial velocity= 18kmhr=18×10003600=5ms

Step 2:Formula used

v2=u2+2as where v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration and s is the distance covered.

Step-3: Finding the final velocity

As we know:

v2=u2+2asv2=(5ms)2+2×5ms2×87.5mv=30ms

Hence, the final velocity is 30 ms.
