Decreases by 1%


Let the number be x.

10% of x =x10

Given, the number x is increased by 10%.
Obtained number =x+x10=11x10

Now, 10% of 11x10=11x100
Now, the number 11x10 reduced by 10% i.e.,
Final number =11x1011x100

=110x 11x100

=99x100

= 99% of x

Effective change = Final number - Initial number
= 99% of x- 100% of x
= -1% of x

Thus, the number is effectively decreased by 1%.
