Question

A object has a mass of 20 kg on earth what will be the mass and weight on the moon.

Open in App
Solution

Weight is equal to = mass times gravity
on Earth if the mass is 20
then weight would be 200 kg
the gravitational pull off earth is 9.8 I am taking it as 10 it would convenient for solving problems and there would only minute difference
weight is 200 kg on Earth
weight can change but the mass can never change .
weight on moon will be 20*1.6
which is 32 kg
the mass on moon would be 20 kg as mass never changes
gravitational pull on moon is 1.622
I took it as 1.6 and we get 32 kg
