Question

A parallel beam of light λ=5000oA is incident at an angle θ=30o with the normal of the slit in a YDSE. Intensity due to each slit is Io. Point O is equidistance from S1 and S2. Distance between slits is 1 mm, then

Solution

The correct options are
A Intensity at 0 is 4Io
C Intensity at point 2 mm above 0 is 4Io
x=d sin θ=d2=12 mm=0.5 mm
since λ=5000 oA
So Δx=nλ where n is integer.
So at O, we get constructive interference, hence 4Io intensity.

Fringe width w=λDd=5000×1010×21×103=1 mm
So we get 4Io intensity at 1, 2, 3,...n mm from 0 where n is an integer.
