OA = Intial velocity v1=5ms1, due east

OB = Final velocity v2=5ms1, due north

By Δ law of vector addition,

OA+AB=OB

AB=OBOA=v2v1

= change in velocity

=52+52=52ms1

Average acceleration

=|v2v1|t=5210
