A particle of mass 1 kg rests on rough contact with a plane inclined at 30 to the horizontal and is just about to slip. Find the coefficient of friction between the plane and the particle.

The minimum angle made by an inclined plane with the horizontal such that a body placed on the inclined surface just begins to slide. This angle is called angle of repose.
Here the angle of repose is 30o and the relation between coefficient of friction , μ and the angle of repose is given by μ=tanθ=tan30=13=0.58
