Question

A particle, of mass 103 kg and charge 1.0 C, is initially at rest. At time t=0 sec the particle comes under the influence of an electric field E(t)=E0sinωt^i, where E0=1.0 N C1 and ω=103 rad s1. Consider the effect of only the electrical force on the particle. Then the maximum speed, in m s1, attained by the particle at subsequent times is

Solution

Given,
m=103 kg,q=1.0 CE(t)=E0sinωt^i
and as we know,
change in liner moment = impulse
so, mdvdt=qE
taking integration at both side
v0dv=qE0mt0sinωtdt
v=qE0m(1cosωt)ω=1×1(1cosωt)103×103
v=(1cosωt)
Vmax=2 m/s
