Question

A particle starts from origin at t = 0 with velocity of 15^i and moves in x-y plane under the action of force which produce a constant acceleration of 15^i+20^j. Find y-coordinate of particle when x-coordinate is 180 m.

Solution

x-coordinate :
Velocity ux=15 m/s
Acceleration ax=15 m/s2
Using Sx=uxt+12axt2
Or 180=15t+12×15t2
t=4 s
y-coordinate :
Initial velocity uy=0
Acceleration ay=20 m/s2
Sy=uyt+12ayt2
Or Sy=0+12×20×42=160 m
