Solution

The correct option is D

All of the above

Both active immunity and passive immunity can be effectively used together for treatment against infections. Passive immunity can be induced artificially by transfer of preformed antibodies to a non-immune individual. Passive immunisation is quick acting and can provide an immune response within hours. But the immunity conferred by passive immunisation is short-lived as it does not lead to the formation of long-lasting memory cells. Therefore, after providing immediate relief to a patient, a vaccine can be given for a long lasting immunity to the same pathogen as it creates active immunity.
