Solution

as per the birds statment

let x be the number of the birds...

then x + x + x/2 + x/4 + 1 =100
then x + x/2 + x/4 =99

taking LCM of 1,2,4 which equal to 4

4x/4 + 4x/4 + 2x/4 + x/4 =99
11x / 4 =99
x = 99 x 4 /11 =9 x 4 =36
