Solution

The correct option is B 342 m
The pirate ship is 6 km 498 m far from the shore.
You know, 1 km=1000 m
∴ The distance in m will be: 6×1000+498=6000+498
=6498 m

To find the equal distance travelled by the ship everday,
Divide 6498 m by 19.

So, here,
Divisor = 19
Dividend = 6498

Write 6498 using place value.
6498=6000+400+90+8

Now, solving the division process using box method,

The partial quotients are:
315 , 21 , 5 and 1

∴ Final quotient will be:
315 + 21 + 5 + 1 = 342

In 1 day, the pirate ship has to cover 342 m to reach the shore on time.
