Solution

Plane mirror:

  1. A plane mirror is formed by making one surface of the mirror opaque by silvering and then by a thin coating of red lead oxide paint.
  2. Silvering is done because silver reflects the maximum light falling on the mirror.
  3. If silvering is not done the light rays falling on the mirror will pass through it.
  4. A thin coating of red lead oxide prevents the silvering of the mirror.

Hence, a plane mirror is made by silvering one of the faces of a plane glass sheet.
