The correct option is B 4 Ω
Potential gradient
x= current × Resistance per unit length
x=10 V10Ω×10100
x=0.1 V/cm
Potential difference across R is balanced at 40 cm.
V=x×40
V=0.1×40=4 volt
But V=I×R
4=(5R+1)R
4R+4=5R
R=4Ω
