Question

A projectile is fired from the surface of the earth with a velocity of 5 m/s at an angle θ with the horizontal. Another projectile, fired from another planet with a velocity of 3 m/s at the same angle, follows a trajectory which is identical with the trajectory of the projectile fired from the earth. Solution

The correct option is A 3.5
Lets assume the value of acceleration due to gravity on the planet is gp.

y=xtanθgx22u2cos2θ

For the trajectory of both the projectiles to be same, the ratio gu2 should be equal, as every other variable is same.

gu2e=gpu2p
9.852=gp32

gp=3.5 m/s2
