Gene probe

Gene cloning is the process of formation of identical genes in controlled conditions and are detected by the process of nucleic acid hybridization. The cloned DNA is radiolabelled, usually by being synthesized in the presence of radioactive nucleotides. This radioactive DNA is then used as a probe for hybridization to complementary DNA or RNA sequences, which are detected by virtue of the radioactivity of the resulting double-stranded hybrids.
