Solution

Length of the rectangular hall, l=22 m and Breadth, b=15.5 m

The area of the rectangular hall =l×b=22×15.5=341 m2

Margin of carpet =75 cm=0.75 m

Area of carpet (rectangular) =(222×0.75)×(15.52×0.75)

=(221.5)(15.51.5)

=20.5×14=287 m2

Area of the carpet =287 m2

Portion uncovered (Area of strip uncovered) = Area of rectangular hall Area of the carpet

=341287=54 m2

Width of the carpet =82 cm=0.82 m

Length of carpet required =Total Area of carpetWidth of carpet

=2870.82=350 m

Cost of 1 m length carpet =Rs. 124

Total cost of 350 m length of carpet =350×124=Rs. 43400
