The technique used to digest the DNA by restriction enzymes is called restriction digestion.
Agarose gel electroporesis is the technique which can check DNA fragment progression. Restriction enzyme digest DNA into fragments. Each fragment has different size. When agarose gel electrophoresis is performed each fragment with different sizes are separated on the gel. The one with the larger size can not move through the agarose gel and remain on top of gel while fragment with shorter size moves easily through gel and forms band at the lower region of gel. The band formed can be visualised by putting the gel on UV transilluminator or gel documentation system.
