Given : Work W=16QH
Efficiency of engine η=WQH=16 .........(1)
Let the initial source and sink temperatures be TH and TL respectively.
η=1TLTH

or, 16=1TLTH TH=1.2TL ........(2)

Now the sink temperature is reduced by 62oC i.e TL=TL62 ........(3)
New efficiency is doubled i.e η=26=13
Using η=1TLTH

13=1TL621.2TL (using (2) and (3))

or, TL621.2TL=23 TL=310K or, TL=320273=37oC

TH=1.2×310=372K
TH=372273=99oC
