Question

A rigid body consists of a 3 kg mass connected to a 2 kg by a massless rod. The 3 kg mass is located at r1=2i+5jm, and the 2 kg mass at r2=4i+2jm. Find the length of the rod and the coordinates of the centre of mass.

Length of rod=(24)2+(52)2=4+9=13
Center of mass co-ordinate in M(x,y)
x=3×2+4×23+2=145
y=3×5+2×25=195
