Solution

Dear student,
A
i) Silver nitrate is used as solution. When electric current is passed, silver nitrate breaks into silver and nitrate ions and as a result silver ions gets attracted to negative plate and deposit on iron rod.
ii) Since the material is to be electroplated is iron spoon, it should be connected to negative terminal of the battery. Positive terminal should be made of silver.

b) Lemon juice, Milk, Vinegar, common salt solution, Sulphuric acid solution, Seawater, and Rainwater conduct electricity. This is because dissociated ions can move freely in solution, allowing a charge to flow. Sugar solution, distilled water and honey do not conduct electricity as they

c) Uses of electroplating:
It is used in bicycle to resist rust or corrosion.
It is used in LPG stoves to resist rust.
