Area of the room = Area of a rectangle

= Length x Breadth

$=(6\times 8)$ sq m

$=48m^2$

Area of each tile = Area of a square

$=(2\times 2)$ sq m

$=4m^2$

Number of tiles required $=\frac{\text{Area of the room}}{\text{Area of each tile}}$

$=\frac{48m^2}{4m^2}$

$=12$
