Question

A room is 4.8 m long, 3.6 m broad and 2 m high. Find the cost of laying tiles on its floor and its four walls at the rate of Rs.100/m2.

Formula for Area is given by 2h(l+b)
We have, l=4.8m;b=3.6m;h=2m
, Area = 2 x 2 [4.8+3.6]= 33.6m2
Therefore, the area of four walls is 33.6m2
Now, we have find the area of the floor = (l x b) = ( 4.8 x 3.6 ) = 17.28m2
Thus, area of floor + area of 4 walls = 17.28m2+33.6m2 = 50.88m2
Thus, the cost of laying tiles on its floor and its four walls at the rate of Rs. 100/m = 50.88 x 100= Rs 5088
