[CO3]=45mgl=4560×103

=7.5×104mol/l=1.5meq/lit

[H+]=1010mol/litres=1×107meq/lit

Also, [OH]=104mol/lit=0.1meq/lit.

[HCO3]=[H+][CO3]k

=1010×7.5×1044.5×1011=1.67×103mollitre

=1.67×103geq/l=1.67meq/lit.

Total alkalinity =[HCO3]+[CO23]+[OH][H+]

=(1.67+1.5+0.11×107)meq/lit

= 3.27 meq/lit

=(3.27×50)mg/lit as CaCO3

=163.5mg/lit as CaCO3
