The correct option is C 40 mins

Given, 8 periods are of 30 mins each.

Less the number of periods, the duration will be more.

$\text{Number of periods}$$\propto \frac{1}{\text{Duration of each period}}$

$\therefore \frac{x_1}{x_2}=\frac{y_2}{y_1}$

where,
$x_1=8$
$y_1=30\text{mins}$
$x_2=6$
$\text{and}{y}_2$ is duration of each period if there are 6 periods
Hence, $x_1\times y_1=x_2\times y_2$
$\Rightarrow 8\times 30=6\times y_2$
$\Rightarrow y_2=\frac{30\times 8}{6}=40\text{mins}$

40 minutes will be the duration of each period if number of periods is reduced to 6.
