Let the maximum marks =x
$\therefore$ pass marks=30% of x+15=40% of x -35
$\Rightarrow \frac{30x}{100}+15=\frac{40x}{100}-35$
$\Rightarrow \frac{40x}{100}-\frac{30x}{100}=35+15$
$\Rightarrow \frac{10x}{100}=50$
$\Rightarrow x=500$
$\therefore$Required pass number=$\frac{30}{100}\times 500+15=165$
Pass Percentage=$\frac{165}{500}\times 100=33$%
