The correct option is C 7
The mean as calculated by some students is,

Mean=Sum of numbersTotal given numbers=7+8+9+124=364=9

However, since students misread 1 as 7 and 6 as 8, therefore the actual sum of numbers will be (71)+(86)=8 less.

That is, the actual sum of numbers of numbers will be,

Actual sum of numbers=368=28

Therefore, the actual mean is

Actual Mean=Actual sum of numbers4=284=7

So, option (c) is correct.
