Dear Student,
Solution) Given: A shopkeeper buys X kg of potatoes at birr 1.50 per kg.
∴ the cost of X kg of potatoes = birr 1.50X
Also,
he buys y kg of onions at birr 2.25 per kg.
∴ the cost of y kg of onions = birr 2.25y
Therefore,
total money paid byshopkeeper
= cost of X kg potatoes + cost of y kg onions
= birr (1.50X + 2.25y)
