Solution

Step 1: Given information:

The list price of an article=Rs.3,000

Rate of discount=30%

GST rate=5%

Step 2: Calculate the price paid by the shopkeeper:

The amount of discount is computed as;

Amount=3,000×30100Amount=Rs.900

The cost price of the shopkeeper ;

C.P=Listprice-DiscountC.P=3,000-900C.P=Rs.2,100

GST, paid by the shopkeeper;

GST=2,100×5100GST=Rs.105

So, the price paid by the shopkeeper ;

Price=C.P+GSTPrice=2,100+105Price=Rs.2,205

Step 3: Calculate cost price paid by the consumer:

Since, discount given to the consumer is 10%.

C.P of the consumer is computed as;

C.P=3,000×(100-10)100C.P=3,000×90100C.P=Rs.2,700

GST for consumer;

GST=2,700×5100GST=Rs.135

Total price paid by consumer =2,700+135=Rs.2,835

Step 4:

Calculate VAT paid by shopkeeper:

VAT=GSTrecovered-GSTpaidVAT=135-105VAT=RS.30

Final Answer :

(i) The price inclusive of GST paid by the shopkeeper is Rs.2,205.

(ii) The price paid by the consumer is .Rs.2,835

(iii) The VAT paid by the shopkeeper is Rs.30.
