At null points, BH=Beq .......(1)

Where,

BH=Horizontal component of earth's fieldBeq=Equatorial field due to a bar magnet

From (1) and (2) we get,

8×104=4π×1074π×4d3

d3=12×103

d=(12)13×101 m=110×(2)13 m

The separation between the two null points D is given by,

D=2d=210×(2)13=41310

D=1.5910=0.159 m
