A simple harmonic progressive wave is given by $y = 0.1 s i n 4 π (50 t - 0.1 x)$ in SI system. Find amplitude wavelength, frequency and velocity of the wave.

Solution

$y = 0.1 sin 4 π (50 t - 0.1 x)$
Amplitude $= 0.1$
hence, K $= 0.1 \times 4 π$
$λ = \frac{2 π}{K} = \frac{2 π}{4 π \times 0.1} = 5 m$
here w $= 4 π \times 50$
$∴ f = \frac{w}{2 π} = 100 H z$
$V = \frac{w}{K} = \frac{4 π \times 50}{0.1 \times 4 π} = 500 \frac{m}{s}$
