For a simply supported beam value of span to effective depth

$\frac{L}{D}=20$

For span above 10 m, the value given above shall be multiplied by 10/span in metres i.e.,

$\frac{10}{16}=0.625$

$\therefore \frac{L}{d}=20\times 0.625=12.5$
