The correct option is C 35KQ2R
We know that,
Self energy of a sphere of radius R having uniformly distributed total charge Q is,
Ui=35KQ2R

Now, energy of the sphere when it is compressed from radius R to R/2,
Uf=35KQ2(R/2)=65KQ2R

Work done to compress the sphere will be equal to the change in self energy of the sphere.
i.e.Wcomp=UfUi

Substituting the values, we get

Wcomp=(6535)KQ2R

Wcomp=35KQ2R

Hence, option (a) is the correct answer.
